On January 17th, 2013, an acid attack was carried out against Sergei Filin, the artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet. The attack was ordered by dancer Pavel Dmitrichenko, formerly cast as Baron Von Rothbart in Swan Lake. The attack appears to be a response to Filin declining to cast Dmitrichenko’s girlfriend, Anzhelina Vorontsova, as Princess Odette.

Equal parts a love story, a crime drama, and a continuation of the legacy of Dance’s most famously cursed ballet, we have sought to reconstruct Swan Lake in its image on the 11th anniversary of the event.
